Weaver's Knot Tutorial

Color change without all the weaving-in

Love color changes but hate weaving in ends? I've got you! I learned this weaver's knot technique that makes color changes a weave-free breeze!

There are plenty of video tutorials of this technique on Youtube, but here's a quick and dirty description with pictures:

  1. You've reached the point where you want to make a color change.

  2. Cut yarn, leaving about 1/4" tail

  3. Pull out last one or two stitches so you have room to work. Don't worry, you'll re-crochet these stitches after forming your knot

  4. Lay two ends of yarn parallel to each other with the working yarn and your project to one side and the ball of new yarn to the other

  5. Make an L shape with the working yarn

  6. Tie the new yarn in a single knot around the upper arm of the L

  7. Make a reverse L shape with the new yarn

  8. Tie the working yarn in a single knot around the upper arm of the reverse L

  9. Pull 2 ends tight so the knots bump into each other.

  10. Trim ends.

  11. Continue crocheting with your new color!
